Deflagration to Detonation Transition in Heterogeneous Mixtures Containing Ethanol/Acetone and Oxygen

What is it about?

A liquid fuel with high vapor pressure can support detonation development. We measured and characterized detonation properties for mixtures of liquid ethanol or acetone with oxygen. Higher detonation velocity and shorter detonation development length were measured in the acetone-oxygen mixture due to the presence of fuel vapor.
