What is it about?
To throttle a hybrid rocket motor, we firstly proposed an explanation of why a hybrid motor is throttleable by controlling the oxidizer mass flow rate. Afterward, we proposed and performed a series of hot-fire tests including the throttling test. The results showed that the sea-level thrust of the proposed hybrid motor had good agreement with calculation. Not only the O/F ratio was found rarely shift, but also the total impulse was found proportional to total oxidizer usage.
