What is it about?
Pressure-swirl atomizers are popular in gas turbine applications due to their simple construction and the wide turn-down ratio of the spill-return versions. In this work, we experimentally study the effects of several factors of internal geometry on spray characteristics. The acquired data and results analysis provide design optimization guidelines for the important atomizer dimensions and their operating conditions as well as fabrication details.
