What is it about?
In hybrid electric propulsion, a gas turbine drives an electric generator that sends electric power to a motor connected to a propeller or fan. The benefits of electric propulsion in aircraft include reduced emissions, lower noise, and fuel savings. The paper discusses the possible use of a special type of electric machine, called a doubly-fed induction machine. The results of experiments on a laboratory testbed are presented.
