Enhancement of Control Jet Performance in Supersonic Crossflows Through Pilot Injection

What is it about?

When a reaction control jet of a launch vehicle is operated within the atmosphere, it disrupts the flow around the launch vehicle which lowers the effectiveness of the jet. We propose and evaluate a novel technique for improving this effectiveness by diverting a small fraction of the propellant through a pilot injector situated ahead of the primary injector.
