What is it about?

This paper describes the Mars 2020 entry, descent, and landing trajectory, aerodynamics, and atmosphere reconstruction based on data acquired during the successful landing on Mars, on Feb 18th 2021. The approach makes use of Kalman filtering techniques to blend the available data together. The atmosphere and aerodynamics reconstruction make use of forebody pressure measurements arranged on the heatshield as a flush air data sensing system.
