What is it about?
Protrusions are used in hybrid rocket to disturb the boundary layer such that the boundary layer thickness would be less and combustion could take place close to the fuel surface and regression rate would increase. Further, it also enhances mixing between fuel and oxidizer during combustion. Thus, it also improves efficiency. These parameters depends on the L/D ratios of the hybrid rocket motor.
