What is it about?
Exploration of Venus has long been identified as scientifically important. However, due to the high temperature (467°C), high pressure (90x that of Earth), and highly corrosive chemistry of the Venus atmosphere, previous Venus lander missions to the planet have been limited to at most a couple of hours of data return. In this study, we evaluate some possible structural materials for use in construction of a long-duration Venus lander by exposing them in a specially designed vessel that simulates Venus surface conditions.
