What is it about?
Altitude compensation is achieved in Expansion-Deflection nozzles through pintles. Study shows that curved pintle with highest base curvature showed better overall performance in terms of contribution of base pressure to thrust output whereas the pintle with an inclined base indicated the better overall coefficient of thrust when compared to pintles at higher NPRs due to higher contribution from momentum thrust.
