What is it about?

The hazardous waste generated from the textile can be seen as pre- consumer and post- consumer waste in the form of fiber and textile fabrics. Therefore, re-using the fiber and textile waste can be used to produce valueable products, saving environment and producing business opportunity. A real case study that demonstrate the use of textile fiber waste in the development of successful products using waste from industry.

Why is it important?

In this study, a variety of fiber and textile waste including the denim fabrics. Designing the products using textile fiber waste was found to be an effective source of market- desirable textile product. A number of home decoration products were designed and produced.

Perspectives

Designing the products using solid textile waste can be a useful source for reducing the environmental hazard. This study describes the re-use of various fiber and textiles, though the case studies, particularly denim fabric, in designing the products for home decoration.
