What is it about?

This is a phenomenological investigation on textile practices in the Colombian armed conflict. It reflects on what sewing, embroidery and weaving practices imply in contexts of sociopolitical violence. In this way, it investigates the constructions of meaning that some women victims of violence have created through making textiles as a creative and active way to manage emotions, to enunciate violence and to resist war. On the other hand, it analyzes the way in which textile materialities, bodies and manual elaboration processes operate in the construction of meaning and emotional management around events related to violence.
