What is it about?
This study investigated the influence of seaming and fit factors on the serviceability of custom-made clothing among female students in Ghana. The research examined how these factors affect the durability, comfort, and overall performance of custom garments. The findings showed that seaming and fit significantly impact garment serviceability, although many respondents had limited knowledge about seam quality. Despite this, most students reported satisfaction with the seaming and fit of their custom-made clothes, noting that garment manufacturers largely control style choices. The study concluded that manufacturers generally meet customers’ expectations regarding seaming and fit, and recommended that continued attention to these factors is essential to enhance garment serviceability and customer satisfaction.

Why is it important?
This study is important because it highlights how seaming and fit directly affect the durability, comfort, and overall satisfaction of custom-made clothing. Understanding these factors helps garment manufacturers improve construction quality, ensuring clothes last longer and fit better, which enhances customer satisfaction. Additionally, identifying gaps in consumer knowledge about seam quality can guide education efforts, empowering customers to make more informed choices. Overall, the research supports the production of higher-quality, more serviceable custom garments, benefiting both consumers and the local fashion industry.
Perspectives
The study is important from consumer, manufacturer, educational, and industry perspectives. It highlights the role of seaming and fit in customer satisfaction and garment durability, encourages manufacturers to improve quality, identifies a need for better consumer education on seam quality, and supports the growth of the local custom clothing industry.
