Why is it important?
It was found that the contemporary understanding of philosophical knowledge of ethnic design features three components, influencing the establishment of art studentsʼ essential competencies: the core meaning of ethnic design and understanding its symbolic nature; perception and understanding ethnic design as an aesthetic and beauty category; axiological and pedagogical aspects of ethnic design in education.
Perspectives
It was proven that ethnic design as a subject of research enables to teach students to perceive and recreate images in their diversity owing to the integration of historic-and-cultural art legacy, creative symbols, and Chinese ethical values. It was stated that ethnic design encourages shaping key required competencies among art students during their studies, which, eventually, enables to reach such programme outcomes as independent creative activities, development of creativity by retranslating national values in the reflection-based art and design etc. The research into ethnic design allows promoting art studentsʼ values and meaningfulness as the national art legacy, as well as the awareness of the diversity of art multiculturality. It also enables to show the rate of forming value-based cultural, art and design benchmarks.
