Why is it important?

Military detailed maps are very important and precise historical documents about the past settlements. Around 30% of Interwar Poland was mapped and published, another 30% was mapped but not published - these raw data were lost during the WW2. If found, missing sheets would fill enormous gap in historical documentation of nowadays eastern Poland, western Belarus and western Ukraine.

Perspectives

98% of MGI's detailed maps are available online, but only 30% of them were revised for the 1930s. It is highly possible that around 4-8% of maps may be found elsewhere. Another 16-20% of maps will probably never be found. But still, the whole thing is an interesting story, isn't it?
