Role of grinding stones' shape in pothole formation

What is it about?

Grinding stone not only curves potholes in bedrock channel, but also stream bed also. Importance regarding bedrock channel incision was laid on hydraulics and sizes of grinding stones. But shapes of grinding stones plays significant roles in pothole formation. It was found that with given hydraulic parameters, whether a grinding stone impacts on potholes walls or abrade on floor or remain idle on the floor, depends on its shape significantly.
