What is it about?

Groundwater is an essential commodity needed by humans. A saying that one can survive 7 days without but not without water makes it very important for life. Therefore there is a continuous need to monitor groundwater for pollutants that may cause health issues when ingested by people. Little is known about the vulnerability of aquifers in Southwest Nigeria. Therefore, this work give an insight into the degree of vulnerability of Nigeria Basement Complex aquifers.

Why is it important?

The finding showed that the groundwater in the study area is good for drinking and may be suitable for irrigation purposes. The study further revealed that the aquifers within the Basement Complex terrain of Nigeria are less prone to pollution provided there are less anthropogenic activities.

Perspectives

This research work is a product of collaborations with respected colleagues. This study gave me the opportunity to interact with villagers in remote areas and explore new grounds. As with all research, there is a new thing to learn for future purpose. This I achieved greatly through this study. Would you want to carry out similar studies in Nigeria, I and my team will be pleased to be of great help. Also, I am open to Post-Doc positions in the area Environmental and Medical Geology.
