What is it about?
The article is especially written for school teachers of the sciences. It explains the role of the Chemical Curiosities cabinet in education, and describes how the author was inspired, by a similar cabinet in a local junior school, to successfully construct such a cabinet at his own school - Highgate, in north London, UK.

Why is it important?
The article explains how, during the past 5 decades, the program of chemistry teaching in schools has been drastically reduced, leading to a huge surplus of beautiful chemical apparatus. Examples of this apparatus, together with other chemical artefacts, will enable pupils to learn about many of the most interesting chemistry experiments, which are now obsolete and yet from which a huge amount can be learnt.
Perspectives
It is to be hoped that this article will inspire teachers to appreciate the value of this educational medium, and to construct similar science curiosity cabinets in their own schools.
