What is it about?
Sociological studies often report conflicting result when assessing certain phenomena, in particular, the people’s perception of the adequacy of the city’s level of greening. As such, according to some estimates, Kyiv places first in the ranking of European capitals in terms of the number of green spaces, while according to others it places last. While there is a sufficient normative level of greening, residents of Kyiv, in the majority, assess it as insufficient. A comparative analysis revealed the causes of such discrepancies. The conducted sociological study allowed to establish the priorities of the residents of Kyiv in assessing the existing parks and squares attractiveness and to identify directions increase it.

Why is it important?
The feeling of living comfort in the city directly depends on the level of landscaping. The absence of free land plots within the urban area to create new squares and parks forces us to look for ways to increase the attractiveness of existing ones.
Perspectives
An assessment of the psychological perceptions of the comfort of parks and squares will form the basis for the development of a method for calculating their level of urban planning value according to various criteria (environmental friendliness, accessibility, contactability and attractiveness). This will increase the significance of various elements of the city’s green space system.
