Why is it important?
Okra is important vegetable and fibre crop. Though a self pollinating crop, we have shown the possibility of improving the crop through cross breeding. Our study revealed the mode of transmission of important characters in okra. This will be useful for other improvement efforts in okra.
Perspectives
I hope this article would increase the understanding of breeding efforts aimed at developing superior plant types to meet the food and industrial demand for okra.
