What is it about?

Traveling waves solutions for the isothermal Euler equations are computed here. They have constant speed and thus can be interpreted as the solutions to an optimal control problem where the aim is to find a solution with constant speed. The waves can also run through network nodes for suitable parameter sets.

The analytic Solutions are valuable to understand the transient System Dynamics and to test numerical methods.


The traveling waves Solutions also illustrate the limited range of applicability of the considered AGA model for real gas. It turns out that the traveling waves blow up after finite time.
