What is it about?

This paper discusses the evidence base to the influencing Functions and associated influencing behaviours of leaders that requires the application of authentic leadership theory by leaders to foster trust in the followership. This requires leader training and development and the paper contains an evidence-based conceptual model to guide curriculum development and leader performance assessment.

Why is it important?

There is strong evidence supporting the claim that effective leadership requires trust in the leader by the followership. An evidence based conceptual model to guide curriculum development for leadership training will facilitate the development of the skills, knowledge and abilities of influencing functions if leaders.

Perspectives

This paper came from my PhD research with the thesis title: It's a matter if trust. The effect of leadership style on organisational identification and job satisfaction of aged care employees.
