What is it about?
This article presents a full-length Finnish version of the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM). NSM is a language consisting of 66 universal core concepts which can be expressed in every language of the world. The idea is that any other concept can be defined in terms of the NSM and that every definition can be translated into any language.

Why is it important?
This is the second article about the Finnish version of the NSM and the first one written in Finnish. It is important to translate NSM into as many languages as possible in order to evaluate if how well it actually works and how it could be developed.
Perspectives
The first author of this article is Ulla Vanhatalo who has studied NSM in Australia. NSM has been created above all by two professors living in Australia, Anna Wierzbicka and Cliff Goddard. It has been a pleasure to work with Ulla and I have learned much from her.
