What is it about?

It was recently determined by the American Heart Association, based on new criteria of 130/80, that half of those in the United States have high blood pressure. Legislation will be required to ensure that brakes are made with some metal other than iron.

Why is it important?

The worldwide exposure to brake iron dust inhalation is a major contributor to high blood pressure. See my editorial: Neil Armstrong's lunar diastolic hypertension, Journal of Hypertension Management , 2017, 3: 029e, posted on my website, www.femsinspace.com.

Perspectives

It was recently determined by the American Heart Association that a normal blood pressure is below 130/80. Therefore it has been estimated that half of those in the United States have high blood pressure. A major factor may be the release of deadly iron dust from brakes. Over 90% of brakes are made of Iron. Legislation will be required to ensure that brakes are made of some other metal. This may require decades. I have addressed this issue in a recent editorial, Neil Armstrong's Lunar Diastolic Hypertension ( Journal of Hypertension Management, 2017, 3:029e).
