What is it about?

Infection with spiral rod shaped bacterium Helicobacter pylori has been associated with gastric and extragastric diseases including atrophic gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric cancer, diabetes mellitus, respiratory diseases, renal failure, cardiovascular diseases, HIV and haematological diseases. We sought to evaluate the association of H. pylori with each of these diseases using the stomach function test(serological marker test) GastroPanel (Pepsinogen 1 &2, Gastrin-17 and H pylori IgG).

Why is it important?

H.pylori and atrophic gastritis are well known risk factors of gastric cancer which is still fourth cause of cancer related deaths. Gastritis has also been associated with extragastric diseases like stroke, heart attack, dementia, diabetes mellitus, renal failure, anaemia, respiratory diseases. It is therefore of great importance to monitor H. Pylori and atrophic gastritis in patients with extragastric diseases.

Perspectives

Reduce the burden and death resulting from gastritis, H. Pylori, atrophic gastritis. Implement and promote evidence based medicine principle for gastric diseases and their complications with GastroPanel
