What is it about?
There is no doubt that diabetes technology greatly benefits patients with diabetes mellitus. This technology is particularly widespread among children and adolescents. While there are many positive aspects to this form of therapy, few negative aspects have been investigated or are known. An increasing number of studies show that using diabetes technology can lead to above-average weight gain. We were able to confirm these observations in children and adolescents and also show, that girls and young women of pubertal age are particularly affected by this weight gain. This must be considered when providing diabetes technology advice and training so that the positive effects of this therapy are not negated.
