What is it about?

New research shows that slower titration of semaglutide 1mg significantly improves adherence to therapy in patients with T2DM. Our study compared standard vs. flexible titration approaches for semaglutide. Results: • 19% dropout rate with standard titration vs. just 2% with flexible approach • 45% experienced nausea with flexible titration vs. 64% with standard protocol • Fewer days with nausea (2.9 vs. 6.3) • Less fatigue/asthenia (10% vs. 25%) • Similar glycemic control & weight loss with both approaches Starting low (0.0675mg- counting 5 ‘clicks’ on the semaglutide injection pen dose selector dial) and titrating slowly (increasing by 5 ‘clicks’ only if patients feel comfortable) could be "game-changing" for patients struggling with gastrointestinal side effects while maintaining efficacy
