What is it about?
A variety of Integrated care (IC) approaches are effective at improving glycemic control and depressive symptoms, offering efficiencies and flexibility in the approach. However, there are no meta analyses that examine the comparative effectiveness of IC approaches. Our met analysis fills this gap.

Why is it important?
Rates of diabetes continue to increase globally. In addition, people with diabetes often have depressive symptoms. However, most individuals with diabetes report that their depression is not addressed with their diabetes. When untreated, diabetes and depressive symptoms worsen. Integrated care models offer a potential solution and our meta analysis highlights this potential solution to the global problem of co-occurring diabetes and depression.
Perspectives
This publication provides useful information about integrated care models, how they address diabetes and depression, what the clinical significance of these models are, and provides implications for future research.
