What is it about?
In a new study involving more than 70,000 adults wearing wrist wearables and followed up for 8 years, we found that any level of sleep irregularity is deleteriously associated with type 2 diabetes risk, even among participants who meet sleep duration recommendations. These findings support the importance of consistency in bedtimes and wake-up times in public health guidelines and clinical practices for type 2 diabetes prevention.
