What is it about?
Identification of those at risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) in type 1 diabetes (T1D) is challenging. Rather than during illness while DKA is developing, we examined the diagnostic association between levels of routine point-of-care capillary blood ketones and future DKA months later. We found threshold ketone values that can identify those at two- to three-times the risk of future DKA.
