What is it about?
We investigated the association between different pathophysiological subgroups in type 2 diabetes and diabetic polyneuropathy. We found that a subgroup with high beta-cell function and insulin resistance had the highest prevalence of diabetic polyneuropathy. Furthermore, higher beta-cell function is likely an important risk factor for DPN in addition to obesity and other metabolic syndrome components
