This comment highlights the differences between arteriosclerosis (arterial stiffness) and atherosiclerosis in the assessment of cardiovascular risk in people with type 1 diabetes. Whereas arteriosclerosis (carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity) has already demonstrated to predict cardiovascular events, prospective evidence is still lacking for atherosclerosis (carotid plaques)..
