What is it about?
We show that women who develop gestational diabetes, compared to those who do not, have worse insulin resistance and β-cell dysfunction early during pregnancy and a greater subsequent decline in insulin sensitivity and blunted increase in β-cell function. Increased fasting and one-hour OGTT plasma glucose early during pregnancy are markers of increased gestational diabetes risk.
