What is it about?
We have shown that almost 30% of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes have hypertension or elevated blood pressure which is a modifiable cardiovascular risk factor, and its early diagnosis and treatment is of great importance for prevention of cardiovascular events and improvement of life expectancy. We have also shown that blood pressure measurement methodology is an important factor which affects the prevalence of hypertension and must be routinely considered in both research studies and in clinical practice.
