What is it about?

We investigated the association between circulating autoantibodies against methylglyoxal-modified ApoB100 and ApoB100 peptide and coronary atherosclerosis and retinopathy in type 1 diabetes. We found that autoantibodies against AGE-modified apoB100 in subjects with type 1 diabetes were inversely associated with coronary artery stenosis and proliferative retinopathy, suggesting vascular protective effects of these autoantibodies in type 1 diabetes.
