What is it about?
People with diabetes have higher risk of mortality in COVID-19. We examined whether long-term glycemic control, diabetes treatment regimen, and other characteristics were associated with hospital mortality from COVID-19. Our results indicate that long-term glycemic control is not predictive of mortality, but outpatient insulin treatment and obesity are strongly associated. Longer diabetes duration and obesity among people with diabetes confer higher risk of mortality from COVID-19.
