What is it about?
We studied over 4,000 people at risk for type 1 diabetes and found that genes linked to type 2 diabetes also influence how much insulin the pancreas makes and how quickly type 1 diabetes develops. These findings show that both type 1 and type 2 genetic factors shape disease progression and point to new opportunities to improve prediction and prevention.
