Research reveals low USP2 levels in the muscles of type 2 diabetes patients and mice. In diabetic mice, Usp2 knockout worsens muscle loss, while overexpression alleviates it. USP2 inhibits muscle atrophy via deubiquitinating PPARγ. Targeting this axis may treat muscle atrophy.
