What is it about?

Although AGE/RAGE signaling is widely implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy, therapeutically targeting this signaling pathway in the clinic has proven to be challenging due to drug toxicity and low efficacy. In this multidisciplinary study, we have identified lysyl oxidase as a novel regulator of RAGE that can serve as an alternative (downstream) target to block AGE/RAGE signaling in diabetic retinopathy.
