What is it about?
It is well-established that T1D is an autoimmune disease but the cause of this autoimmunity is unknown and why some develop it while other genetically similar individuals do not. Here we present a testable hypothesis that explains a possible cause of this autoimmunity and suggests possible ways to prevent it.
