What is it about?
How hepatic mitochondria become dysfunctional during nonalcoholic fatty liver disease/steatohepatitis (NAFLD/NASH) development is unknown. We show that hepatocyte-specific endothelial nitric oxide synthase is a vital regulator of NAFLD/NASH susceptibility by maintaining a healthy mitochondrial pool within the liver with clinical relevance to patients.
