What is it about?

Pre-existing diabetes in pregnancy increases risk of poor outcomes in women and their children. After noticing many pregnant women in our clinic with uncontrolled diabetes, we designed a quality improvement project to increase pre-pregnancy counseling and stress the importance of planning pregnancy when diabetes is under control and using contraception when needed. We improved counseling at our clinic but also found barriers to making this change.
