What is it about?
In a diabetic patient with localized lipoatrophy switching from multiple insulin injections to sensor-augmented pump (SAP) therapy, where subsequent worsening of glycemic control was thought to be due to insulin infusion interruptions and unstable insulin absorption associated with repeated cannula insertions into highly lipoatrophic areas. These observations provide clues as to what should be suspected in a diabetic patient with localized lipoatrophy exhibiting worsening of glycemic control despite switching from multiple insulin injections to SAP therapy.
