What is it about?
In EUROASPIRE V survey, more than 8,000 coronary patients were investigated with special regards to their glucose metabolism status. Their management has been thouroughly taken into consideration.

Why is it important?
Despite guidelines being issued and updated every few years, the care of coronary patients is extremely poor. Particularly, strategies to diagnose and handle type 2 diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance need substantial implementation.
Perspectives
Having the chance to collaborate in this big project is a great honour. The authors are prominent in this field and they have been extremely supportive. The whole ESC EORP EUROASPIRE project focuses on patients first: how can we improve their quality of life? Which are the practical things every physician can change in their everyday practice to put patient holistic management in focus?
