What is it about?

People with coronary artery disease and diabetes share features confering a higher morbidity and mortality. Proteomic offers a new tool to investigate potential new biomarkers and therapeutic targets.

Why is it important?

This is the first study exploring proteomic in people with coronary artery disease, thouroughly characterised by means of computed tomography (CTA), and type 2 diabetes. Important correlations are shown between these two disease and numerous proteins with specific biological actions.

Perspectives

What makes this study unique is the investigation of thousands of proteins in people with diabetes whose coronary arteries are surely affected. It is an outstanding study putting together proteomic technology and clinical work.
