No evidence for persistent enteroviral B infection of pancreatic islets in type 1 diabetic and pre-diabetic patients from RNA-Seq data

What is it about?

Persistent viral infection of the human pancreas has been invoked as a key feature of type 1 diabetes. Using RNA sequencing of pancreatic islet samples from dozens of deceased organs donors, we found no evidence for persistent viral infection.
