What is it about?

The chapter details the life and achievements of Irish traditional musician and composer Josphine Keegan. Despite her virtuosity she was often forgotten in Irish traditional music narratives. She was an accompanist for many leading Irish traditional musicians of the 1960s and 1970s including Sean McGuire, Joe Burke and Raymond Roland but, as such, did not achieve the fame of her male counterparts. She did release her own solo albums and her compositions have been integrated into the tradition but it is only since 2000s that she has received recognition.
