What is it about?

I argue, against common view, that according to Aristotle human beings are more political not because they have a capacity for rational speech, but because they have a multiplicity of communities ( such as the family, village, and polis itself) which differ in form.

Why is it important?

This paper offers a non-orthodox, new perspective for understanding the political nature of human beings according to Aristotle.

Perspectives

I produced this paper from my PhD. thesis, which I completed at Sorbonne, in 2013. Although it goes against a deeply rooted traditional understanding of Aristotle's views on human beings' politicalness, I believe it offers something new worth considering.
