The Unasur represents the highest point of the South American integration process. The organization is the result of a political project led by Brazil, which has been accompanied by the rest of the actors in the region.

Why is it important?

This book identifies the historical antecedents of the organization, its process of creation and its capacity of action, during an agitated political period that lived the region since 2000. The work explores the role of the organization in the resolution of internal and inter-state conflicts and in the promotion of transparency in cooperation and defense in South America.
