This paper looks at how New Zealand can establish and sustain an internationally competitive sheep dairy industry. The paper compares the sheep dairy industries in both France and New Zealand.

Why is it important?

The study found that New Zealand sheep dairy (NZSD) industry should pursue a differentiation strategy that focuses on customer responsiveness, innovation and quality to achieve a competitive advantage. Furthermore this study identified that responsible Innovation would be a critical factor for the NZSD industry to sustain its competitive advantage.

Perspectives

The research was interesting as it identified how an emerging sheep dairy industry industry could become internationally competitive. The sheep dairy is a recent development in New Zealand agriculture and comparing this with the long established French industry was interesting and provided a valuable comparison
