What is it about?

Due to change of population lifestyle, especially nutrition habits and lack of physical activity ,colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence increased in developing countries and constitutes a public health problem in these countries, as the case of developed countries. In this study we have calculated the incidence rate of CRC in Northern Tunisia for the period 2007-2009, on the basis of North Tunisia cancer registry. Distribution of CRC incidence was described according to demographic characteristics (age, gender and governorates) and the the chracteristics of the tumor (sub site and histologycal types).

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure for me to work under the supervision of the head of epidemiology department of Tunisia Institute of Cancer, the professor Hsairi Mohamed. This article lead to a greater attention of policy makers to improve CRC screening program and greater involvement in cancer epidemiology research.
